How do i find out about the unemployment benefit in australia while looking for work?

Im moving from nz to go australia to be a nail technician, i have applied for jobs but they say the same thing, apply when you get here. And i dont want to risk losing my savings so am trying to figure out if i can get government/financial support until i get a job there.

NO – as coming from NZ you are NOT entitled to any Australian benefit or pension for 2 years …

You will have to live off your savings untill you get a job.

This law was changed in 2000 to stop the kiwis coming over and living off the dole

  1. You could contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau. Try finding the Australian Government Agencies on-line, for bits of advice too.Work and Income Support in NZ may give a little bit of advice.
All the best to you for the future!
